Teen Therapy

Adolescents are some of the best people to work with. Their realness is inspiring, as is their capacity for growth when given the right circumstances. Because of this, I heavily prioritize building a relationship teens can trust. Little by little, the room can start to feel like theirs.

I help teens identify, express, and get curious about their thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behavior. As they feel understood and gain self-awareness, they start to see what's working and what could change in how they relate to themselves and the world around them. I'll also offer new perspectives and coping strategies for them to try on as we go. As the work progresses, whatever brought them in — anxiety, perfectionism, a difficult life event — often begins to loosen its hold, and they're freer to get back to the experiences that build confidence, purpose, and momentum.

Teen therapy often involves working with parents or caregivers to help you understand, communicate with, and support your teen through whatever they're facing. My approach is collaborative and strengths-based, and never blaming. I'll often meet with parents alone, and when it's helpful, with parents and the teen together.

Issues I commonly work with:

  • Anxiety or overthinking

  • Perfectionism or harsh self-criticism

  • Difficult life events

  • Social or family relationship issues

  • Identity exploration
